Grade 2 – English

Description

Grade 2 English is a course of 180 short daily videos, following a systematic approach to strengthening your second-grader’s reading skills. Reading, grammar and spelling rules of the first-grade will be reinforced and used in more complex words and sentences.

Emphasis will be put on reading fluently and comprehending what is read. Students will read passages from Aesop’s Fables and a chapter book to practice skills. All reading materials are free and online.

Along with phonic skills, your student will receive directed handwriting lessons. The student will receive a quick review of printing skills, and practice various forms of written expression, such as business letters, research projects, poetry, lists, etc. At the end of the class the students will receive an introduction to cursive writing, to be continued and mastered in third-grade.

Every lesson includes a handwriting assignment and grammar worksheet for home practice. The videos can be reviewed as often as needed for drill and practice on high-frequency words, and reading fluency.
