So far, all of the speech projects you have done have been designed as informative or entertaining speeches. Now you are going to add a new skill to your speaking repertoire: persuasion.
Assignment:
Choose either of the following topics for your project this week, and then write a 5-7 minute speech. Begin, as always, with a mind map and outline to keep your speech organized. Then script your speech based on the outline, and eventually work away from the script.
– Pick a household item, write a sales pitch for it, and then persuade your parents or a friend to buy this item
– Choose either your favorite hobby, book, or video game, and persuade your audience of why your favorite is superior to all other hobbies, book, or video games, respectively
