She has a Ph.D. degree in rhetoric. I have no degree in rhetoric, but I have been using rhetoric in my public writing for over 55 years. My view: it is better to have skills in rhetoric than a degree in rhetoric. Over the last 35 years, I have gained a reputation for my use of argumentative — yes, even negative — rhetoric.
