Grade 5 History – Lesson 5

Watch The Video

No reading assignment today. Instead, you have an essay topic. Write an essay (250 words or more) on the following:

Summarize each of the inventions you studied this week and how they impacted history. Also, explain the most interesting thing you learned this week, and why.

Post it to your blog (click here for help on how to set one up). Then post a link to your blog post in the History 5 forums so that your fellow classmates can read it and provide feedback.

Important: At the end of my course, please produce a final page on your blog for the entire course.Put a link to each of the weekly essays.

Here is a good model that you can copy: https://jadaalc.wordpress.com/economics/

This way, your parents can prove that you have done the work. This will persuade any local school officials who inquire. Students enrolled in the public schools have done nothing like this.

Note: if you supply final links for each course, college entrance committees will see what you can do. Few applicants will be able to match this.

For extra credit: If you read an essay that a classmate posted, post feedback for them. Give them three points of feedback: two aspects that you like, and one area that you think needs improvement. Warning: no logical fallacies, like name calling. Stick to the facts. You are helping each other to improve your thinking skills, your writing skills, and your reasoning abilities. “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs 27:17) But also remember the words of James: “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity…Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” (James 3:6, 13).
