Welcome to Grade 1 English
Each day a new letter sound is introduced. Blending sounds into words will build up, lesson by lesson. As more sounds are covered, week by week, the range of words and sentences your child can read will broaden. As sentences are introduced, videos will teach punctuation and grammar. By the end of the course, students will be able to diagram basic sentences, as well as read short passages.
Along with phonic skills, your child will receive directed handwriting lessons. At the end of this course, your child should be able to print sentences with correct punctuation as well as create a basic “friendly” letter and envelope.
The first nine weeks in this course will focus on letter sounds, blending consonant-vowel-consonant words, and simple sentences. Every lesson will include a downloadable handwriting page and phonics review worksheet for home practice.
